METROPOL Group of Companies Presents Baikal Harbor Art Forum
The Baikalskaya Gavan (Baikal Harbor) International Art Forum is
a new major event in the art world that will be first held in the
Republic of Buryatia in 2013 on the initiative of the METROPOL
Group of Companies and the Fund for Protection of Lake
Baikal.
It was reported by Bair Tsyrenov, Director for Regional Activities
of IFC METROPOL, at a press conference held in Ulan-Ude on 11 July
2012.
“The idea of starting an art festival in the talented Baikal
Region was literally in the air, and we decided it was time to put
it to action as a large cultural project that will become the event
of the year on Baikal. We are very glad that Golos Kochevnikov
(Voice of the Nomads) Festival is our creative partner. We have
established a friendship and a partnership which, as we can see,
are successfully developing. I hope that in the future it will
acquire a new sound - as a part of the Art Forum”, said Bair
Tsyrenov.
According to the Baikal Harbor Art Forum concept, it will
combine world music, cinematography and modern art. Many people
from the creative community have expressed their support of the
project. Among them were Mosfilm CEO Karen Shakhnazarov, actors
Dmitry Pevtsov and Yelena Yakovleva, filmmaker Bair Dyshenov,
musicians Andrey Makarevich and Oleg Gazmanov, singer Namgar, and
Quartet I theater.
“Our Republic needs a center for attracting creative forces and
the Festival initiated by METROPOL could become one”, said Timur
Tsybikov, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Buryatia.
“I sincerely support this project”, said Zorikto Dorzhiyev, a
renowned Buryat artist who took part in the press conference. “The
fact that it will take place in Buryatia is is just great. It will
give new energy and a breath of fresh air to the development of our
region”.
“Due to the initiative of the METROPOL Group our culture has a
chance that the idea of the art festival will come to life and we
will become richer with the world heritage, and that is
wonderful!”, said producer Konstantin Khankhalayev at the press
conference.
The project will be implemented with the support of the METROPOL
Group of Companies, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of
Buryatia and the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal.
