The forum held in Shanghai was timed to the meeting of heads of SCO member states.
In his speech, Mr. Mikhail Slipenchuk addressed his colleagues – businessmen from SCO countries, proposing to ‘take an active part in developing polymetal deposits in Buryatia’, and in particular zinc deposits. He pointed out that joint implementation of these projects is credible assurance of obtaining by its participants of fixed zinc concentrate volumes in the future. Nowadays, we are considering proposals of several well-known zinc producers; however, we are fully open for dialogue with other interested companies, noted Mr. Mikhail V. Slipenchuk. In addition, he called upon foreign colleagues, first of all from Kazakhstan and China, to view the option of establishing beryllium oxide production facilities and later, copper and beryllium ligature production facilities on the basis of the Yermak field.
Directly addressing top management of Kazatomprom National Nuclear Company, the Ulbin metallurgical works, the Chinese Nuclear Industry Ministry, Shui Kou Shan and Sinzang Non-Ferrous Metals Industry, and other stakeholders, Mr. Mikhail Slipenchuk stated that joint implementation of these projects could become tangible content for the economic cooperation program as part of SCO and to promote increase in trade turnover between our countries.
