The flag of Investment and Financial Company METROPOL at the Wrangel Island.
At the end of August - beginning of September 2011 the head of
METROPOL Group of Companies M.V. Slipenchuk took part in an
international research expedition to Wrangel Island in the North
Arctic Ocean.
Frederick Paulsen, the famous polar explorer, chairman of the
board of directors of pharmaceutical company Ferring
Pharmaceuticals (Switzerland), Honorary Consul of the Russian
Federation in Lausanne, has funded this project.
The expedition also included Russian scientists from the Institute
of Arctic and Antarctic.
The expedition carried out a set of meteorological, radiometric,
heat-balanced and oceanographic researches. In addition, works were
carried out on studying environmental situation at Wrangel Island
and palaeontological survey - the island is considered to be the
last habitat of woolly mammoths.
