Participants of the Regional Media Festival Come to Baikal
On 17-20 July 2012, about 80 participants of the All-Russian
Festival of Regional Mass Media Moya Provintsiya (My Province)
visited Ulan-Ude and the Maksimikha Village of the Barguzinsky
District. The Festival was designed to facilitate journalistic work
to revive interest to the regions, intended for the preservation of
culture and traditions of the Russian people and improve the level
of professional preparation for reporters working in regional print
media.
In Buryatia the Festival was organized by the Presidential
Administration and the Government of the Republic of Buryatia, the
Administration of Ulan-Ude and Inform Police Publishing House. The
METROPOL Group of Companies was one of the partners of the
Festival.
“The government of Buryatia tries to invite as many guests to
the Republic as possible. Major regional forums are held to
strengthen the image of the Republic. This Festival will be
attended by representatives of regional mass media, and they will
be impressed with Baikal, Buryatia and Ulan-Ude just as I was
fascinated with this land. Each of them will write about the trip
to our land in their publication which will be the best
advertising”, said Irina Smolyak, Director of the Information and
Analytical Committee, Deputy Director of the Administration of the
President and the Government of Buryatia.
The Festival program included an educational and recreational
components. The Festival in Ulan-Ude and on Lake Baikal offered a
series of master classes in television and radio broadcasting, a
round table discussion on New Opportunities for Earning Profit by
Regional Media, a meeting with Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn, President of
Buryatia, a creative meeting with Leonid Mlechin, two-time TEFI
winner, and various cultural events including mini concerts, tours,
presentations of Buryat wedding traditions, learning to play
chuck-a-luck, fishing, a visit to the Cherny Cape, etc.
The tour program to Lake Baikal for the participants started
with a visit to the Baikal Harbor Special Economic Zone of tourism
and vacation type and a walk on the Turka Settlement embankment.
Most reporters saw Lake Baikal for the first time. Participants of
the meeting got acquainted with tourist opportunities available in
the Republic both in the summer and winter.
The Festival has been held for 13 years. It has traditionally
included three festivals - a festival of television films and
programs, a festival of press and a radio festival. The geography
of My Province festival movement covers over 170 cities all over
Russia.
