Summer in Enkhaluk: METROPOL Group organizes recreation for children from large and low-income families on Baikal
Head of METROPOL Group, Deputy of Eravninskiy District Municipal
Entity of the Republic of Buryatia Mikhail Slipenchuk has initiated
recreation of over 20 children from Eravninskiy District (Ozerniy,
Khorga and Isinga villages) aged from 8 to 15 in Enkhaluk sports
and health camp on the shore of Lake Baikal. This is the first
visit here for many of the youngsters, as they have never left
their villages for vacations before.
“Environmental education should start at an early
age. This is how this idea started up: to gather children, to open
their eyes to a new world, to teach them to feel pride in
themselves and their country. It was important for us to ensure
that the children would not just go to a pioneers’ camp to have
rest, but would replace their narrow geographical perception with a
broad one and realize that they are citizens of a great country and
live near a legendary lake”, said Mikhail Slipenchuk commenting on
Summer in Enkhaluk.
The agenda of the children’s stay in the camp included daily
Easy English classes. They also had Tae Kwon Do training, played
soccer and even practiced ball joggling.
“I’ve had no idea that this is possible – that the deputy would
send us here for vacations. I like everything here. We’re well fed,
and we had a royal night yesterday dancing and burning a fire till
one a.m.”, says 14-year-old Egor Anaev from Ozerniy village
describing his Summer in Enkhaluk.
The program for the children from Ozerniy, Khorga and Isinga
villages is scheduled for 12 days.
