METROPOL Group of Companies signed two memorandums of cooperation with Nikken Sekkei
Mr. Mikhail Slipenchuk, Head of METROPOL Group of
companies, and Mr. Mitsuo Nakamura, Chairman of the board of
directors of Nikken Sekkei, Japanese architectural and engineering
company, have signed today two memorandums on the
implementation of Japanese energy saving and innovation
technologies for realization of construction of new Business
District "METROPOLIYA" in Moscow and of new “International tourist
centre on Baikal” in special economic zone “Baikal Harbor”
(Baikalskaya Gavan), Buryat Republic.
The solemn ceremony took place within the framework of IV
Russian-Japanese Investment Forum that was held on November 11-12,
2010 in Tokyo, Japan.
“METROPOLIYA is a new Contemporary Business District that will
appear in the south-east of Moscow. It is the first in Russia
project in realization of which a leading world famous
architectural and engineering company “Nikken Sekkei” is engaged.
Its great experience in the area of energy-saving technologies will
allow us to realize project really unique for Russia. Moreover, the
realization of this project will allow Moscow to come to the same
level as the recognized world financial centres such as London,
Tokyo and New York,” said Mr. Oleg Korol, CEO of METROPOL
DEVELOPMENT Company.

METROPOLIYA Business District
METROPOLIYA is a project on development of a new ultramodern
Business District in south-east of Moscow designed to create “a
city within a city”. The main purpose of the project is to change
the role of the territory that historically was industrial and
municipal area. The project is designed to create new image for the
region, improve sustainable and transport aspects of the southeast
of the city by means of using modern technologies.
METROPOLIYA project is planned to be realized at the
crossroad of two major highways: Third Ring Road and Volgogradsky
avenue. Within walking distance of METROPOLIYA Business District
“Volgogradsky avenue”, “Dubrovka” metro stations and also land
transport stops are located. Within the framework of the project it
is planned to construct the second class Relief road of
Volgogradsky avenue, modern connection hub based on the development
of new metro station planned at new metro line and also to
develop intercepting parking for the purpose of cutting down
traffic jams in the city.
METROPOLIYA Business District is eco-city reacting on
seasonal changes. Up to 60 % of energy conservation thanks to using
of state-of-the-art environmental technology corresponding to the
environment and climate of Moscow. Nature park as a stylobate zone
with the total area of 100 000 sqm will help to improve ecological
situation in the district.
The master-plan of the project was elaborated by Nikken Sekkei,
Japan’s major architectural and engineering company. CB Richard
Ellis is the project’s main consultant.
Within the framework of the project there will be 1,6 mn sqm
of commercial and residential property on the territory of more
than 21 hectares. The volume of investments in the METROPOLIYA
project is estimated at more than 3 billion US dollars.
Project “Baikal Harbor”
The Putnik LLC Siberian travel agency which is part of
METROPOL Group of companies is one of residents of the Baikal
Harbor Special Economic Tourism and Recreation Zone located in
Buryat Republic.
METROPOL Group of companies intends to implement a major
development project in its efforts to create the Baikal Harbor
Special Economic Tourism and Recreation Zone. As official
Baikal Harbor resident, the company plans to build a
multifunctional all-season tourism complex on Turka’s Baikal shore
that includes the following facilities: a congress centre with a
unique convertible stage for hosting all types and levels of
events; a harbor station with birthing facilities capable of
accepting all existing and potential types of craft being used
around Baikal; the Fishing Village (Rybatskaya Derevnya) complex,
