METROPOL Group of Companies Signs Agreement with Nikken Sekkei (Japan)
Putnik Siberia, part of METROPOL Group of Companies, and the
Japanese-based architectural and engineering company Nikken Sekkei
Ltd signed an agreement in Moscow today.
According to the agreement, Nikken Sekkei will develop a conceptual
design for the construction of the “Baikal Harbor International
Tourist Center” in the “Baikal Harbor” Special Economic Zone in the
Republic of Buryatia.
Earlier, on 12 November 2010, at the 4th Russian-Japanese
Investment Forum in Tokyo, METROPOL and Nikken Sekkei signed a
memorandum on the implementation of energy saving and innovative
technologies in the construction of the “International Tourist
Center on Baikal” in the “Baikal Harbor” Special Economic Zone in
the Republic of Buryatia.
Mitsuo Nakamura, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Nikken
Sekkei Ltd, said, “Baikal must be preserved as a unique natural
body. This is why we must use technologies that would not harm the
environment of the lake. We believe this to be our main task as
designers”.
Mikhail Slipenchuk, Head of METROPOL Group of Companies, agreed
with his Japanese colleagues, “To build the “Baikal Harbor”, we
need to use the most advanced environment-friendly materials and
technologies. The complex will be positioned as a destination for
all kinds of tourists, from those booking presidential suites to
those preferring modest family recreation. Besides, the “Baikal
Harbor” will host various events – sports, musical performances,
etc. Our Japanese colleagues have vast experience in designing such
multipurpose facilities with minimal interference with the
environment”.
