A Delegation of METROPOL Group Attends 6th Baikal International Economic Forum
A delegation of METROPOL Group led by Head of the Group M.V.
Slipenchuk is attending the 6th Baikal International Economic Forum
in Irkutsk.
The 6th Baikal International Economic Forum (BEF) was formally
opened at 09:30 Irkutsk time on September 7, 2010 with an inaugural
address by Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal
Assembly of the Russian Federation S.M. Mironov, who read out a
greeting from President of the Russian Federation D.A. Medvedev.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister of
Kazakhstan К.К. Masimov, Governor of the Irkutsk Region D.F.
Mezentsev, and state officials from Poland, Japan, and the Republic
of Korea. Head of METROPOL Group, Chairman of the Board of Trustees
of the Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal M.V. Slipenchuk made a
report on Public-Private Partnership in the Development of the
Baikal Region at a plenary meeting entitled Siberia, Land of
Opportunities; Irkutsk, a Point of Support. The Forum’s official
delegation visited a large-scale exhibition of innovative projects
displayed at three pavilions, and also participated in the
Presentation of the Expedition Project “Mirs in Baikal”.
Exhibition booths of METROPOL Group and the Fund for Protection of
Lake Baikal, General Partners of the Baikal Forum, were set up in
the BEF central pavilion. The Fund acted as the initiator and
organizer of an exposition of two manned submersibles, Mir-1 and
Mir-2, on the square near the official event pavilion of the Baikal
International Economic Forum. A press briefing on the results of
the “Mirs in Baikal” International Scientific Research Expedition
is scheduled for September, 8, the Forum’s second day, on the
square near the Mirs exposition.
The Group includes six battery plants and business units developing and introducing new technologies, and distributing products.
